  Job Description

  • Seeking a qualified professional with proven experience and results to join our Billing team as an Associate.
  • The Production Billing team is responsible for creating and managing retail electricity and gas invoices for over 1 million customers throughout North America for multiple brands of our company.
  • Within the team, the Billing Associate is responsible for creating retail electricity and gas invoices by prioritizing, analyzing, and resolving system generated work queues within the Billing application, analyzing and resolving issues within the unbilled reports, resolving invoice processing errors, and providing customer level support.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise independent judgment to review, analyze and resolve open work queues to enable accurate and timely invoicing of customers.
  • Work with senior team members to compare and evaluate alternative courses of action. Independently execute appropriate course of action to fully resolve issues.
  • Provide customer level support by researching and responding to customer inquiries.
  • Interact with external parties and internal departments, including Customer Care, Collections, Cash, Sales, Transaction and Data Management to resolve customer issues quickly and effectively.
  • Review, analyze, and resolve unbilled cycles, including working with other functional groups as needed.
  • Identify billing discrepancies and use discretion and judgment to take necessary actions to resolve.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and aptitude for quick learning by cross-training across multiple markets and Billing systems.
  • Ensure that all Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) Key Controls and other company policies are followed
  • Communicate potential issues and impacts with team and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience will be considered.
  • Strong computer background/experience, including Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required and Access skills strongly preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, with internal and external parties is required.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Background in customer billing needed
  • Customer service orientation, serving internal and external clients.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Capable of working independently and as a team member.
  • Regulated and/or deregulated energy industry experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Retail Power “Order to Cash” processes and associated risks preferred
  • Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, Siebel and Lodestar experience preferred
